Promotion, recruitment and maintaining of blood donors
Serbia needs 1000 units of blood secured daily, meaning that events for blood donation where 1000 people would donate blood need to be organized. Anyone healthy, between 18 and 65 years of age can become a blood donor after it is determined by medical exam that this would not cause harm to them or the person who would be the recipient.
In daily coordination with partners - the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Serbia, the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Vojvodina and the Institute for Blood Transfusion of Nis, as well as transfusiological services, the Organization of the Red Cross in Serbia conducts activities for the promotion, recruitment and maintaining of blood donors, and takes part in an average of 15 blood donation activities daily. The goal is a continuous securement of sufficient blood supply for all patients in Serbia who require transfusions.
