Each for Equal – International Women's Day 2020

08/03/2020

Each for Equal is this year’s International Women's Day theme and today we want this reflected in what we do. The Red Cross of Serbia decided to enhance the visibility of older women this year and answer the question: What needs to change so that older women may live equal to everyone else?

To mark the International Women's Day, a conference entitled “Invisible Women” will be organized on Tuesday, 10 March in the Congress Hall of the Red Cross of Serbia, starting at 13:00. The Conference will be organized by the Red Cross of Serbia and HumanaS Network, in partnership with the Commissioner for Protection of Equality, Brankica Jankovic and the Cabinet of the Minister without portfolio prof. Dr. Slavica Djukic Dejanovic.

The Conference will be used to bring attention to the women who fought for our rights and today some of them live forgotten by their children and the society. We want to shine a light on some forms of discrimination targeting older women and speak about Gender Equality through 5th Sustainable Development Goal, to speak about women suffering from dementia, older women who are informal caregivers and all other women whose work and contribution to the society is frequently overlooked.

The speakers at the Conference will also include Natasa Todorovic, Red Cross of Serbia, Gordana Milovanovic of Help Net and Slavica Stankovic of Bread of Life NGO as well as Slavica Djurdjevic, foster women from Boljevac.
