Monitoring visit to partners from North Macedonia

As part of the project “Strengthening Resilience of older persons and persons with disabilities during COVID-19 and future crises” supported by the European Union and the Austrian Development Agency, and coordinated by the Red Cross of Serbia, a visit to partners from North Macedonia was carried out. In the period from March 12 to 14, 2023, representatives of the Red Cross of Serbia paid a monitoring visit to partners in the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia and the NGO Humanost. The purpose of the visit was to provide adequate support to partners during the implementation of the three-year project.

During the first day of the visit, Nataša Todorović, the project coordinator, and Dr. Milutin Vračević had a meeting with the Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, Sait Saiti, and discussed the implementation of the project and the lessons learned, as well as future plans related to projects intended for older persons. On the first day of the visit, a meeting was held with project coordinator Ljupka Petkovska and micro-grants coordinator Žaklina Popović. The part of the project related to healthy aging is implemented in accordance with already existing plans and in accordance with the project. Micro-grants are also being implemented in accordance with the plan and representatives of the Red Cross carried out monitoring visits to organizations in order to provide support and check the implementation so far. During the visit, a visit to the Alzheimer's NGO from Skopje, which implements one of 10 micro-grants, was organized. The main goal of their activities is lifelong learning and training of older persons on various topics that improve knowledge and raise awareness of healthy lifestyles and social inclusion of older persons. The lecturers and workshop participants within this project are experts from various fields, as well as famous people.

Representatives of the Red Cross of Serbia also had a meeting with Marija Babamova from the NGO Humanost, the organization that in charge of advocacy for long-term care and the introduction of integrated services for the older persons and persons with disabilities within the project.
