The crisis in Ukraine - a humanitarian response

28/02/2022

The Red Cross of Serbia expresses deep concern over the extremely serious humanitarian consequences of the escalating conflict in Ukraine.

The Red Cross of Serbia advocates that all parties to the conflict respect the Geneva Conventions of 1949, additional protocols and other relevant treaties of international humanitarian law. In that way, the following priorities would be provided: protection of life, humanitarian aid to all who need it, protection of the civilian population, especially women, children and the older persons, wounded, sick and prisoners, and free and safe access of humanitarian and health workers to vulnerable populations.

As an integral part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement - the largest global humanitarian network, the Red Cross of Serbia is ready to support people in need and provide humanitarian response, in a structured and organized manner.

We are in constant contact with the International Committee of the Red Cross (hereinafter: ICRC), which together with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society is constantly implementing humanitarian activities in vulnerable communities and responding to humanitarian needs.

The humanitarian activities that are currently being implemented are: providing drinking water, health care, food and hygiene items, restoring family links and psychosocial support.

The movement of the population leaving the places conflict areas in search of safe places in Ukraine and abroad is also underway. In that sense, the Red Cross organizations in the neighboring countries organized reception points at the border crossings, and they are also active in the reception centers.

You can pay your donations in cash to help the vulnerable population of Ukraine to the special account of the Red Cross of Serbia:

The Red Cross of Serbia will continue to inform the public about the humanitarian needs of the vulnerable population.
