Marking of the World Health Day, 7 April

12/04/2019

The Red Cross of Serbia branches have, as they do every year, marked the World Health Day 2019. This year’s slogan was “Health for all – everyone, everywhere”. One of the fundamental human rights is the right to health. People should have sufficient information on health and related necessary services so they can adequately care for their own health and the health of their families.

World Health Day was an opportunity to, pursuing the Red Cross Red Crescent mission, continue promoting the significance of healthy life styles and prevention of risk factors related to the most common health disorders, throughout the life course. The Red Cross of Serbia branches have partnered up with other local stakeholders and organised a large number of health-promotional activities such as: lectures, panel discussions, round table discussions, public events, concerts, sports events, health bazaars, making sure no generation is left out but also mindful not to exclude persons living in rural areas. Some of the branches organised traditional quiz competitions for primary school students “What do you know about the Red Cross?”

Large number of volunteers of different generations participated in the activities helping to promote preventive-health activities, emphasising prevention as the most important step in preserving health of an individual, their family and community.
