Training on “Accessible Communication” Held as Part of the SHAPE Project

15/04/2025

As part of the project "Strengthening Access to Healthcare, Participation, and Social Equity in the Western Balkans (SHAPE)," a training session titled "Accessible Communication" was held on April 10th, intended for all project partners.

The training was conducted by the expert team from Caritas Serbia. Participants had the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills on the importance of accessible communication when working with persons with disabilities. The program covered a wide range of topics – from the concept of accessible communication and practical tips for inclusive interaction, to organizing accessible events and developing inclusive web presentations.

A particularly engaging part of the training was an interactive exercise in which participants stepped into the roles of persons with disabilities and their personal assistants. This simulation sparked strong emotional responses and led to an open discussion on attitudes, empathy, and the importance of behavioral change in fostering inclusion.

A special segment of the training was dedicated to showcasing good practices, which served as an inspiration for further work in the field. The training session was attended by Ms. Nataša Todorović and Dr. Milutin Vračević.

The SHAPE project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health and Consumer Protection of the Republic of Austria and the Austrian Red Cross, highlighting international support for advancing social equity in the region.
