Focus group in Čačak

05/07/2016

Yestersay, on 4th of July the fifth in the series of focus group interviews in the “Older people in rural areas” project was organised. The objective of this exercise with older people from rural areas is to find out how they live and what their problems are, what it is they miss, what is the hardest thing for them living away from urban areas, but also to hear their suggestions on how to solve the problems of older people in rural areas in the most efficient ways. Thirteen older people from Čačak and the nearby villages participated in the interview and helped shed some light on their lives.

The “Older people in rural areas” project is being implemented in cooperation with the Commissioner for Protection of Equality with financial support by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Previous focus group interviews were organised with older people from  villages near Kragujevac, Belgrade, Kikinda and Pirot.

In the coming period the Red Cross of Serbia will organise research that will enable even more older people to provide relevant information. This will on one hand give us a clearer picture on the status of older people in rural areas and on the other help us come up with relevant recommendations on how to improve that status.
