The Red Cross of Serbia is a member of two Governmental Councils

By the decision of Serbian Government from 14 February 2017, the representative of the Red Cross of Serbia, Natasa Todorovic has become a member of the Governmental Council for Advancement of Intergenerational Cooperation and Solidarity. On the 29 December the same year, following the decision of Serbian Government, she also became the member of the Governmental Council on Ageing.

The first constitutional session of the Council for Advancement of Intergenerational Cooperation and Solidarity was organised on 21 February 2018.

The first session of the Council on Ageing was organised on 19 March 2018 in the Government of Serbia building. It was chaired by Prof Dr SlavicaDjukicDejanovic, Minister without portfolio responsible for demographics and population policy as well as the chairperson of the Council.

At the session, the Red Cross of Serbia representative Natasa Todorovic presented the five-year National Report on the Implementation of Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (2012-2017) and the Ministerial and NVO declarations signed at the Ministerial Conference on Ageing Lisbon organised on 21 and 22 September 2017. She pointedsome important instruments and objectives of implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing:

  • Longer working age and building capacity to support it;

 

  • Non-discrimination (ban on discrimination, gender equality, elimination of neglect, abuse and violence against older people);

 

  • Social inclusion of older people (lifelong learning, education, participation of older people in labour market);

 

  • Healthcare and social welfare (healthy ageing, different good quality services, licensed providers of residential care services for older people);

 

  • Intergenerational Solidarity (ensuring effective mutual support and cooperation between different age groups);

 

  • Recognition of the potential of older people (physical, mental and social wellbeing);

 

Ageing with dignity in ensured (protection of enjoyment of all human rights and dignity of older people).
